On Demand Movies Save Big Bucks for Families

Going out to the movies can be a fun family activity, but is it really worth the cost? Going out will easily set you back over $40 to take a family of four to see a film. Add a bucket of popcorn and a couple of drinks, not to mention transportation costs, and you’ve spent well over $60. It would be much more cost effective to watch an on-demand movie in the comfort of your own home. In addition to saving money, there are many other reasons to choose watching an on-demand movie through a Cable Provider. Some of the other reasons are: (more…)

The End of Harry Potter

Its the end of the road for the Harry Potter crew:

Think outside the box

Have you ever seen the movie Office Space? One of characters in the movie works a desk job, but has always had an idea that he has wanted to pursue. The idea is from the character Tom and it’s a jump to conclusions mat. The mat has various conclusions on it and you “jump” to them get it? Yeah, the pet rock was stupid too.  But as Tom says in the movie “It made the guy a millionaire.”

Tom only goes after his idea after being in a horrific car accident and receiving a settlement. What is the point of all of this? Well, if you have an idea you should go for it. Can you imagine how stupid people must have though Pet Rock creator Gary Dahl’s idea was?

The funny thing is that it’s actually easier today to start a business than it was in the 1970s. With the internet you can enter and find so many people who would be into buying niche products. Or if you have had an experience with a company or a website that you found unacceptable, you could think about how you could do it better and just go out and do it!

That’s what Steve Barbarich did.  He was in the market for a hot tub Jacuzzi and bought one off a website. When he had problems with it, the company he purchased it from provided him with no customer service or any kind of help on his purchase.

That’s when Steve decides he would take matters into his own hands, he started Choosehottubsdirect.com and he based his efforts for his e-commerce site with excellent customer service.  Offering people great customer service and wholesale prices is a perfect combination.

So it’s not the pet rock but it’s a void that needed to be filled. If you see a void in the market, maybe figure out how to fill it.

Indian Celebrities Shine in Dubai

A host of Bollywood celebrities turned out for the recent Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge. However, it was “Slumdog Millionaire” star Anil Kapoor who received the most attention.

Kapoor was mobbed by international fans at the event and later at an English pub. Other stars, such as Monica Bellucci, Chunky Pandey, and Jas Arora were surprised by the amount of attention the actor generated.

“I could have understood if Indians would have gathered around him but it was crazy to see so many foreigners literally pouncing on him.” Chunky Pandey explains. Pandey accompanied Kapoor to the pub and mentioned that the tourists at the event weren’t just ordinary fans, but autograph-seeking “gentry” types.

Anil Kapoor and other celebrities attended the Polo Challenge, which was graced by the presence of Dubai’s Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein. Dubai has become a mecca for Middle Eastern, Indian, and other celebrities who can be found at only the best five star hotel Dubai as well as the top restaurants and clubs in the city.

Phuket to Highlight Taiwanese Film

While most people think of Phuket as a decadent vacation destination filled with luxury Phuket hotels, gorgeous beaches, and incredible parties, the island also has a rich cultural life. The upcoming Phuket Film Festival is one example of the island’s growing reputation in the creative world.

This year’s festival, which is scheduled for June 4 – 11, 2009 at the Coliseum Theaters in Phuket Town, will feature a “Spotlight on Taiwanese Film.” In addition to screening numerous award winning and Oscar-nominated Taiwanese films, the event will draw Taiwanese producers, directors, and actors to the island to discuss their work.

Asian superstar Chie Tanaka is scheduled to receive the Asian Talent of the Year Award at the festival. Overall, the event will screen over forty individual films from 17 different countries.

This is the second annual Phuket Film Festival. Organizers hope that in addition to becoming an important Asian film festival, the event will showcase the island as a world-class film location.

Major Films being Shot in Cape Town

South Africa is becoming the hot spot for film production in 2009. The Cape Film Commission (CFC) has announced that several international superstars will be traveling to the area to film over the next year. Stars headed to Cape Town include Matt Damon and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan.

Cape Town has been working for several years to attract film productions. 2009 is shaping up to be a landmark year, with at least seven major films being shot for both Hollywood and Bollywood in and around the city. There is even a major animated film in development that could begin production in the near future.

Celebrities are expected to flock to the city for next year’s FIFA World Cup and many have been spotted already scouting out five star Cape Town hotels and attending sporting events.

Brosnan is scheduled to star in “Heaven and Earth,” a film about the first governor of the Cape set in the 1800s. It is likely to shoot footage at the Castle of Good Hope and other historic sites around the city.

Damon will star with Morgan Freeman in chronicling the Rugby World Cup in 1995, which was won by South Africa. The film will be directed by Clint Eastwood.
