Car Hires and Car Rentals
English is still regarded as one of the world’s common languages, in spite of the fact that it is the native language of a small portion of the global population. Forms of Chinese are much more common as are various Indian languages. It is due to the historical political and commercial importance of first Great Britain and then the United States that English is commonly spoken as a second language in countries all over the world.
One of the more interesting elements about English is that although it is named as a single language, there are actually several different versions, or dialects of the language. The Queen’s English is not the same as that spoken in Canada which can vary from that in the United States. Even Australia, New Zealand and other places where English is the native tongue will each have their own variations.
In England, American tourists should seek out a car hire rather than a car rental. They will find themselves using a loo rather than a bathroom and a lift instead of an elevator. Visitors on longer stays may want to rent a flat (instead of an apartment) and will need to get used to countless other terms for everyday objects which are different in England than in the US, just as those from the American South will have different slang terms than those in northern, western, or even mid-western states.
Don’t Accept a SSD Denial of Benefits
Corruption is a problem in any society. Government officials, law enforcement, and other people in a position of authority or power are surrounded by temptations. However, they are not the only people who abuse a system put in place for the betterment of society. There is a widely held belief that people on welfare or receiving disability benefits in this country are taking advantage of the system.
This latter belief has been proven true in enough cases that the Social Security Administration has instituted very strict rules regarding disability benefits. They have also trained their agents to suspect the worst at all times. The result is that many people with legitimate disabilities are denied benefits. This is actually a fairly frequent occurrence and it causes a lot of emotional distress as well as causes families to continue to suffer financially.
If you have a legitimate claim for social security disability benefits that is denied due to a clerical error or minor mistake on your application, you should be prepared to fight it. Don’t give in to the feelings of shame and guilty that can arise from the situation. If you have a valid claim, then you have a right to those benefits. You should not be penalized for making an honest mistake or misunderstanding the complex filing requirements.
There is a process in place to get denials reviewed and appealed. You may need to employ a lawyer to help you navigate the process, but whatever you do, don’t accept the denial as the end of the line.
Jobs Exist for Travel Nurses
The image of the selfless nurse risking her own health and safety to care for wounded soldiers is far from legend. It is, in fact, the impetus that led many nurses to enter the field — though they aren’t likely to be on an actual battlefield, they will combat illness, disease, and death on a regular basis.
In a modern twist on the traditional nursing jobs, a number of agencies have brought the idea of travel nursing to the forefront. They recognized that the current shortage of health care professionals isn’t just a matter of too many positions and not enough qualified nurses. It is actually the result of distribution: nurses and jobs are not in the same place. The solution is to move nurses to those areas experiencing shortages, if only for short term assignments.
By identifying hospitals around the US that are experiencing nursing shortages, these agencies are able to offer travel nurse jobs to those who are willing to move to another city and state in order to fill the gaps. These positions usually last from two to three months; however, those with flexible schedules are able to stay longer. Some nurses take a travel position as a stop gap between permanent jobs while others thrive on the nomadic nature of the field and continue to take assignments, thereby building an actual career as a travel nurse.
Touring New York City
There’s a belief that everyone should visit New York at least once in their lives — or at least every American should visit this icon of US ingenuity and commerce. New York lays claim to being the center of much of modern life. It is a hub of finance, theater, music, sports, food, shopping, fashion, and art. It houses movie studios, television networks, and some of the top educational institutions in the world.
When planning a visit to the Big Apple, many people get a New York Pass that gives them access to all the major landmarks, attractions, and sites in the city. Others rely on an organized tour to take them through the city. Most people, however, find their own way through New York, making use of guidebooks and personal preferences to figure out what to see.
It’s possible to spend several weeks touring New York and never leave Manhattan as many of the city’s most famous landmarks are here. Tourists can visit the Statue of Liberty, the New York Stock Exchange, and the Empire State Building . The United Nations is here, as is the iconic New York Public Library, Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City Music Hall and the site of the World Trade Center. Central Park, Times Square, the Broadway theater district and many of the city’s world famous museums are also here.
