Great Indian Food in Delhi

Delhi, India is one of the world’s great historic cities and it continues to see growing numbers of tourists and people who are interested in visiting it for various other reasons ever year. Students, scholars, archeologists and vacationers from around the world flock to Delhi to experience its great culture as well as to study its traditions and heritage. And of course the food in Delhi is one of the favorite features of most people’s visits there, regardless of why they originally came. And while the city offers superb cuisine from around the world and almost all culinary genres can be found there, many of the people who plan a stay in one of the great hotels in Delhi prefer to sample some of the traditional food that the city and region is known for. And there are a variety of theme and specific Indian food styles to choose from to satisfy your palette and add greater dynamics to your trip.

The Park Balluchi is a great place to find Indian barbecue and the restaurant itself is a beautiful building that exists in a glass structure and the views are enhanced by the landscaped gardens existing just outside. The grilled chicken marinated in saffron is one of the favorite items on their menu. Punjabi by nature is a great family owned and operated establishment that serves their version of the traditional Punjabi faire. In addition to the main dining area there is a quieter space on the second floor. One of the most popular items on their menu is the lobster cooked in a tandoor oven . Karim’s is sometimes considered to be a local secret as it’s located on a small quiet street. However, it is also a favorite for many of the residents and a great find for tourists. The homemade bread is just one of the outstanding features of this local gem. One of the standard reliable aspects of many Indian food restaurants is that they are typically very vegetarian friendly and there are a lot of meatless options.

    I love Indian food. I can’t even begin to imagine how I’d choose where and what to eat if I ever made it to Delhi. It boggles my mind that someone whose blog I follow has actually been there.
