Quaint City
How about going for something a little different. Check into a room at one of the romantic hotels Augsburg Germany provides and then take the historical walk. Many of the historical sites are with in walking distance or a quick ride apart.
Located in the Schwabian area of Germany this city is a wonderful display of the area. Maybe you would want to start off at the Schwabian Craftsmen Museum. The Schwabian, country folk of Germany, truly do wonderful things with their building techniques. This may actually help you to see the designs in many buildings through out the city.
Not far from the museum you can walk to Ulrichsplatz with the joined churches. There you will find the Catholic Basilica St. Ulrich and Afra as well as the Lutheran Saint Ulrich’s Church joined together by the hip. This is a true experience to see. This building was the direct result of the divisions that came from the thirty Year War and the churches were separated out. This building was just divided in half with one side going to the Catholics and the other side going to the Lutheran’s. Just crazy really.
Some of the things I like about visiting old countries like Germany are the homes of local or international known people. This town has the home of Gignoux who was a calico merchant. This old residence is now the Theater in Augsberg. It is a quaint playhouse. Elias Holl is another home still left. It was originally built by Johannes Holl who was the appointed city architect and visitors can see some of his buildings through out the city. Sadly his religion was Protestant which got him booted out of office in 1631. His birth home and death home were both destroyed in the bombing of World War II.
TransGlobe and Great Property Managers
Great property managers have many things in common, one such thing being the ability to really listen to their tenants, and being able to and open to communication. This is what defines those at TransGlobe Property Management, this is what makes this company stand out. They are involved in the lives of their residents, be they living or working tenants, they are proactive and they remain knowledgeable and up to date, current and modern.
They are resourceful, articulate and personable, they make excellence something that all other property management companies strive for. The basis behind their competence has to do with their ability to create communities within their properties. All of the agents communicate on a regular basis, with all of their tenants in order to ensure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Conflicts in life arise only as a result of a lack of communication or a breakdown of it, and a property manager that knows what he or she is doing will be able to look into the perspectives of other people, and understand them. They are great diplomats and incredible problem solvers. They must take into consideration the views and concerns of many different people all at one time, they must be the go-between.
Understanding the views of the owners of the buildings and the tenants, is a must. They must stay up to date on all reports, financial and otherwise, according to the day to day ways in which the operation of the buildings run smoothly. They must be up to date on the real estate laws for the regions in which they serve. Life in Canada is laid back, a bit European, and the managers at TransGlobe Property Management understand that community matters. The buildings are well cared for as well as the residents, and living in or working in a building managed by the company will be one of the best decisions you will make when choosing to rent in Canada.
More Buddhas in Hong Kong
This is my second month in Hong Kong. Time really flies, I can’t believe it. This last month was a lot of fun, I’ve been playing up the tourist part, visiting all the attractions and seeing all the sights. There is always something to do in Hong Kong. Life is starting for fall in line for me, work is going well. I teach children half the time and adults the other half. Every single one of my students is wonderful. One of my students, Tara, from Beijing, has been particularly great. Since I has to move out of one of the five star Hong Kong hotels, she has generously offered me her apartment until I get back to America in just a few weeks from now. So, I took her up on her offer and moved in two days ago.
She lives in the Causeway Bay area, it’s not as convenient as my hotel and it is a bit more noisy and crowded, but the apartment is really very nice and I’m only a block away from a gym. I’m sleeping in her living area on a nice big futon, it’s okay, not ideal, but it beats paying for a hotel room.
So, Hong Kong is treating me nicely. I have some good friends, who come with me to explore the city. I’ve been meeting lots of new people. I think since there are a lot of us foreigners here, we all can relate to each other and that makes it easier to be here. I’ve done quiet a few things in the past few weeks. I saw the famous Big Buddha in Lantau Island, not that was really interesting. It took taking a 25 minute cable car ride, which was really the most interesting part of the tour. Then we landed on this small island, it was modern and new and full of little shops and even a Starbucks. Then we walked up 200 steps to reach the top of this gigantic sitting Buddha.
The following week, I felt the need to see more Buddhas, so I went to the 10,000 Buddha Temple. Naturally, there were Buddhas everywhere. So, I can now say, I’m all Buddha-ed out!
Frisbee in New York and City Tours
Tina and Terry were sixteen-year-old twins. As you can probably imagine, they are quite a handful and always busy and engaged in various activities. However, they are also extremely polite, sensitive and even responsible young women. When they recently turned sixteen their parents decided to do something special for their celebration. They took them to New York City, which is one of the best ways the girls could ever imagine to spend their birthday. They stayed for the weekend in one of the Boutique hotels New York and included among their activities a production of the Lion King, which the girls had loved since they were young.
They also took a tour of Ellis Island visited the Statue of Liberty. They did most of the things tourists in New York are attracted to doing on their first day in the city. They even road one of the large tour buses, which actually provided an enjoyable, entertaining and educational trip through the city. Even their parents learned new things about the development and early history of New York and also became aware of some aspects of the city they had never known about.
They went to Central Park and spent some time watching people at the fountains. The girls played Frisbee, which was one of their favorite sports and they had recently joined a team from the local league. They had great food and especially great pizza, which was the twin’s favorite. They went to the Empire State Building and Terry as surprised to find out it made her stomach a little queasy. Tina, however liked the slightly swaying feeling at the top and in the elevator. This was definitely the best birthday celebration they had ever had and New York became one of their favorite cities.
