Making Singapore a Destination
It’s pouring down rain in Singapore! We were walking in Chinatown when the down pour hit. We made it back to our 5 star Singapore hotel sopping wet. Our hotel room was air-conditioned, so we got a chill and had to take a hot shower. By the time we dried off and changed close, the rain stopped. We headed back out and it was so humid! It felt like we never left the shower. It was hard to breath.
We had enough time to grab a taxi and have him point out some sight for us, he radio was blasting Eminem. He was good at pointing out some sights, but we hardly understood what he was saying. That was around 9pm. About 1am, we got out of his taxi and was walking through our hotel lobby, when the desk clerk stopped us and asked if we wouldn’t mind being bumped up to a luxury suite room for our last nights stay. We both looked at each other and said sure!
We slept like babies and enjoyed the beautiful view out our balcony. We were up by 7am and had breakfast delivered to our suite. We went all out with the ordering. After breakfast we went for a walk down the river then on to Chinatown. The shops weren’t open until 10am, so we took a taxi tot he Mustafa center, which is Singapore’s 24 hour shopping center. It’s more of a warehouse like shopping experience, but we got some nice prices for some electronics.
After that we packed up and headed to the airport. We thanked the hotel staff for bumping us up on our last night. That was really special. At the airport the security guys carry machine guns, even around the public areas! I felt intimidated, I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever considered just how terrorist have affected of most of the world airports security. The airport itself is very friendly and clean. I wish we would’ve had more time here in Singapore, but it was just a stop over on our way to New Zealand. Next time, we’ll have to make Singapore our destination.
