James Blunt at Dubai International Jazz Festival
Award-winning singer and songwriter James Blunt made his debut appearance at the Dubai International Jazz Festival this week. The British singer is currently on a world tour and was delighted with the opportunity to perform in Dubai.
Blunt was one of the headliners for the Jazz Festival, which also featured John Legend as well as 250 other musicians and artists. While Blunt isn’t a jazz musician, he does see the jazz roots in his music and the festival prides itself on showcasing a variety of musical genres beyond jazz.
Although he has never visited Dubai, he does have friends who live there. He was impressed by the overall energy and architecture of the city. No doubt whatever luxury hotel Dubai he stayed in was swamped with paparazzie and fans after his performance. When he’s not touring to promote his latest album, “Lost Souls,” the singer resides on Ibiza.
Tourism Growth on the Island of Mallorca
Of the four islands in the Balearic string off of the coast of Spain, Mallorca is the largest. The archipelago is located in the Mediterranean Sea. Archeological findings date the beginning of human habitation on the island to be in the Paleolithic Time Period. Remains of culture and human inhabitants, evidence of burial grounds date back to 6000 BC. The cities on the island have changed over time. In 123 BC evidence has suggested that the main economies on the island were the mining of salt, and the growing of grapes and olives. Much has changed over the last two thousand years, war and various occupations by countries such as Italy in 120 BC, and in 426 the Bysantine Empire conquered the island. Then in 707 North African Muslims attacked many times over. In more recent times, the Spanish Civil War brought various occupations to the island through a tug of war between the Nationalists and the Republic.
In the 1950, tourism as commerce brought change to the island. Vacation packages afforded people from countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the island and its beaches and the joy of escaping the cold and dreary winters of their own countries. The climate while a bit chilly during winter rains, still remains relatively mild. And the summers, mild as well, are filled with sunshine and warm breezes. This ideal weather was extremely attractive to foreigners traveling from the colder climate regions, and with more people traveling to island for vacation, more people from Mainland Spain, Africa, and South America traveled to and moved there in search of jobs in the ever-growing tourist industry. In the capital city of Palma, tourism has changed the cultural and socio-economic map, as well as for the entire Island. The number of people visiting the island has grown from 500,000 in the 1060’s to 20,000,000 arriving by air alone in 2001. That is not taking into account the 2 million others that journeyed to island by boat. With the beautiful beachfront resorts, restaurants, shopping and 4 star hotels Mallorca remains to grow as a popular tourist destination and retreat for people from all over the world.
“Slumdog” Star’s Secret Marriage
Frieda Pinto, the attractive Indian starlet made famous by her role in the Oscar-nominated “Slumdog Millionare” is making headlines for a secret marriage. Pinto, 24, broke off her ongoing relationship to Rohan Antao last month. The two were believed to have been engaged, but new reports indicate they actually tied the knot in December 2007
Pinto and Antao met in college and were together for four years. The marriage is said to have been the result of an impulse when they were visiting Antao’s hometown in Goa, India. Goa is the smallest state in India and known for its fabulous beaches and vibrant nightlife. Many of the best hotels Goa are beach resorts to capitalize on the area’s best feature.
The press has been speculating since the breakup that it is a result of Pinto ’s sudden international stardom. Even though Antao supposedly supported Pinto during the “Slumdog” production, she abruptly broke off contact with him once the film began picking up international acclaim such as the BAFTA and SAG awards and a number of Oscar nominations.
Pinto is expected to attend tonight’s Oscars wearing a dress specially designed for her by a Mumbai designer. But Antao will not be her escort.
Pinto’s representative refused to confirm the allegations, stating that they challenge whoever is making the claims to produce documentation that the wedding took place.

Customer Complaint Management
Today, many businesses regard customer complaint management as one of the most important business functions. It is important for improving both quality and customer service.
Customer complaint management in relation to customer service ensures that each and every customer interaction is recorded and dealt with. Ineffectual customer service occurs when customer complaints slip through the cracks or get misplaced and therefore are not brought to resolution.
As a quality function customer complaint management is used to aid continuous improvement throughout the organization by observing and analyzing the nature of the complaints and making improvements and reducing complaints. This helps to eliminate product defects. Many regulatory institutions demand that customer complaints are investigated.
Customer complaint management is the process of identifying and recording all complaints made to a business organization. Therefore staff that deal directly with customers should have access to the system. The goal is to make sure that every complaint is managed and resolved.
The Au Naturale Lifestyle in Ibiza
Nudity. For some people, the thought of being seeing without their clothing is mortifying. And the thought of seeing others nude, strangers nude is even more so…some even consider it outrageous. But for many people the idea is a natural one, after all everyone alive entered this world first and foremost, naked. In the beginning of the 1950’s, public beaches wherein in clothing was considered optional started to become popular, started to become the ‘norm’ on the beaches of France and all throughout the Mediterranean. Over time, other countries have taken up suit, or dropped the suit rather, in favor of the a more natural way to enjoy the outdoors and get the added bonus of the all-over body tan without unsightly tan lines. Beaches on Crete and in the Caribbean followed the lead of France soon after. Along the Cote d’Azur region in France, optional clothing is no longer just restricted to the beach. Cap d’Agde is an area where people shop, go to restaurants, to the bank … all the daily requirements and activities of life, are all done in the nude. It’s no wonder this city has earned the nickname of quite simply ‘Naked City’.
From Gunnison Beach in New Jersey to Blacks Beach in Southern California to Morfa Dyffryn in North Wales, people are flocking to the beaches to shed their clothes, all of them. Weather permitting, there are even nude camp grounds and hiking trails in the Kenai Penninsula in Alaska and elsewhere throughout state. Nude hikers and campers are forewarned about being so vulnerable in this particular wilderness as the bear tends to be the top of the food chain out there.
However, some of the world’s most beautiful beaches are to be found in the Islands of the Balearic Archipelago. These islands are in the Mediterranean Sea away from the Mainland. These beaches are known for their white sand, clear water and clean air. There are 4 islands with some being less crowded and developed than the others. Those a bit shy about being nude may enjoy the the seclusion of the unpopulated islands of Formentera or Minorca. Two of Spain’s most secluded and private beaches are in Minorca, but the most private spots are on the island of Formentera, the Playa de Mitjorn has become the popular spot in Spain for relaxing and enjoying nature. Ibiza has gotten the reputation for being a party destination, however as far as beautiful sand, nude beaches, resorts and many a 5 star hotel Ibiza has become quite popular as well, for relaxing and enjoying nature, completley au naturale.
Slumdog Millionaire Tops BAFTA Awards
The stars were out in force last night at the British Academy of Film & Television Arts Awards in London. “Slumdog Millionaire” walked away with seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Danny Boyle.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were among the stunningly-clad nominees in attendance. Other popular celebrities in attendence included Kylie Minogue, Alesha Dixon, and Kate Winslet who won for best actress in “The Reader.”
One of the British awards handed out (many of the awards are international), was the BAFTA Rising Star Award. This went to Noel Clarke, a young actor known for his recurring roles on the latest “Doctor Who” series and on “Adulthood” a BBC urban drama.
Other winners included Best Actor Mickey Rourke for “The Wrestler,” Penelope Cruz for Best Supporting Actress in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” and a posthumous Best Supporting Actor award to Heath Ledger for “The Dark Knight.”
“Slumdog Millionare” was filmed in Mumbai and tells the story of a young contestant on a tv quiz show who is accused of cheating. The film is a favorite to win at this month’s Oscars, as it has now picked up both the BAFTA award and the Director’s Guild award, both of which are usually good indicators of Oscar winners.
The film is generating renewed interest in Mumbai’s film industry, though it was produced by a British company. No doubt there will be an influx of movie people and celebrities (filling up the 5 star Mumbai hotels) invading the city, should it complete the trifecta and win the Academy Award on February 22nd.
